  • Kate rounds up the top 10 worst fake movie accents ever, and adds one of her own. Good comments too – Sean Connery is indeed #1, but it should be for “Red October”.

  • As you may or may not have noticed I was out of town this past week and hadn’t posted. I took some time to drive around part of this country of ours and see some sites that I hadn’t seen before. It had been quite some time since I was out of Minneapolis farther than Duluth and it was good to travel again. I’d actually grown accustomed to being in one place for more than the few years I would live somewhere growing up before it was time to move on again. Yes, attending three high schools is an interesting social experiement and not for the faint of heart.

More on Europe’s upcoming age inversion (in 2050, the average American will be 35, and the average European 55 – not good for funding the giant maw of the welfare state).

Germany’s economy is in the crapper, so what are they doing? Why, massive tax cuts of course. And here I thought only the simplisme believed in that stuff.

Someone sends Lileks a promotional comic book about Sunbeam bread from 1949. Hilarity ensues, or at least really strange artwork.

  • That time again

The 2003 Blogathon is July 26. I’m not sure if we’ll actually participate yet (I’ve been doing enough all-nighters at work lately to not be thrilled about pulling one here), but in the meantime Laurence Simon will be blogging once again for Magen David Adom, the Israeli ambulance service. I’m sure Meryl Yourish and Michele Catalano will also be raising money for the international Zionist conspiracy.

UPDATE: Michele, who last year blogged for the Daniel Pearl Foundation, will also be going with Magen David Adom this year.

Dennis Miller and his wife flew on Air Force One, and he gave a stand-up routine at a Bush re-election fundraiser. Let’s see: Democratic fundraisers have Billary. Republican ones have Dennis. Yeah, I think I know which one I’d rather go to.

Laurence has a much better headline for the story of the Arabs who refuse to play tennis against Israelis (hey, if they lost, they’d probably be executed, so I’d refuse too).

Also, Lair issues a fatwa against stupid imams (which is, well, most of them).

Zee lists organizations who’ve paid Bill Clinton to speak. The relatively large number of Jewish ones is rather alarming – clearly many still need a clue-by-four.

  • The true reason

Ocean Guy discovers the real true reason why Bush went to war in Iraq. Not oil, not WMDs, not because he wanted Baghdad Bob on the next American Idol. It’s because he wanted the stargate. Yes, like the movie. And yes, some fruitcake actually believes this and charges people to hear about it.
