Friday Night Book Review

I just finished Roger Simon’s DIRECTOR’S CUT (despite rather intense thunderstorms, the power actually stayed on – amazing). Spoiler-free review follows:

In this exciting thriller, LA-based private detective Moses Wine is coming to terms with the “9/12 world”. Suddenly, he’s hired to provide security for a low-budget Holocaust love story being filmed in Prague by a successful sitcom writer/director and his wife. A series of run-ins with Wahhabi terrorists, German intelligence agents, hippies, and the CIA ensues. Can Moses stop the bad guys and get the film shown at Sundance?

It’s a great read, very fast-paced, with excellent characterizations and descriptions. The only downside is that it’s fairly short, at 240-odd pages (about the length of a typical Bill Whittle essay ;). Given that Moses has been starring in novels since around the time I was born, his return is probably a cinch, but it can’t come soon enough for me. Highly recommended, 4 1/2 out of 5 stars on the rarely-deployed Terran Scale.
