National Lampoon’s Vacation

I will be going on vacation between August 9 and August 21. This will necessarily leave a big me-sized hole in this blog for those 12 days. I’ll have ‘net access while there, but I don’t plan to do much posting. Meanwhile I see that Acidman’s given several lucky people “the keys” to post while he’s on vacation, and I think that could be a fun idea.

Sooo, let’s have the first Inoperable Terran Summer Vacation Contest. If you’d like to post here during my vacation and inform, amuse, or insult our (currently) 300-400 daily visitors, email us before Friday, August 8.

There are 3 easy ground rules:

– You should already have a blog. Please include the URL in your email.
– If you’re in my blogroll, you’re essentially already accepted, just email in and claim your spot.
– If you aren’t, give it a shot anyway, if I like you you’ll get to post AND get blogrolled.

Also, so it’s clear, you can post as much or as little as you like. I don’t expect the guests to keep up our usual posting rate at all. Since the alternative is pretty much nothing at all (depending on how busy Zeitgeist is) any amount is good.

I’d like to have 3 or maybe 4 guest posters, but I’ll probably be lucky to get that many entries total. So go ahead and enter even if you think you don’t have a chance ;-)

  • Giggling

Michele remakes Bennifer’s awful new movie Gigli. Based on the reviews of the real thing, her version is substantially more entertaining.

Here‘s the Onion’s hilarious dis of Gigli.

Will Mallrats still be Kevin Smith’s biggest box office disaster after Jersey Girl hits? Stay tuned.

  • Waffling again

Belgium has scrapped their law that allows anyone to sue any world leader for “war crimes”. For those who missed when I posted about this earlier, the law was scrapped because it was being used against people in the Belgian government. Hee hee.

  • PC Watch

Michele found a complete list of censored Warner Bros. cartoons. Many of the edits are just ridiculous, and most took place in the 1990s (during the rise of PC).

Looky here – they cropped a photo of a bunch of smiling women looking at Afghan President Karzai so you couldn’t see their smiles.

Al Gore may try to enter the 2004 race. I’ll bet Hillary is pushing him to enter so he can be defeated again and not jeopardize her 2008 plans.
