  • There are now calls to rename British cities, streets, and other public places so that they don’t offend the French. I could never ever in a million years make this up. (Via FARK)

  • Cement over the quagmire

Josh Marshall is pissed that the gig is up regarding the media’s biased and exclusively negative Iraq coverage, but the Blogfather lets him have it, in his usual understated way.

  • Nuke Paris Now

Chirac blocked an EU statement condemning the Malaysian statement regarding the J-E-W-S controlling the whole world. Gee, wonder why?

  • Movie piracy paranoia

Critics at small press-only screenings are now getting frisked and even strip-searched.

In related news Roger Ebert says “I refuse to spread my cheeks for them“. I’m sure that makes everyone feel much better.

  • Plus ca change

A LIFE magazine article from 1946 claiming that US reconstruction efforts are failing and the Europeans hate us for intervening. (Of course, it’s written by novelist and known commie John Dos Passos, so maybe that’s not surprising).

  • Meryl gets results

Gregg Easterbrook has apologized for his anti-Semetic remarks after the AP and the New York Times (!) ran articles on them.

    UPDATE: And Meryl accepts it.

UPDATE 2: The AP has even picked up the story. Wow.

Tony Blair is planning to basically suspend the UK’s government in favor of the EU with no chance for a vote or anything else that might let those horrible “little people” have a say. Even the Queen is horrified.

Val is calling out fans of the The Best Team Money Can Buy. Incidentally, this is why football is better than baseball – Steinbrenner can and has bought multiple Series rings, while would-be clone Daniel Snyder has been completely unsuccessful at purchasing the Lombardi trophy in multiple attempts.

  • Monoculture bad

Lots of blogs (including LGF, A Small Victory, Misha, and White Glenn) were dead last night due to a denial of service attack on HostingMatters, the company that serves a lot of ’em. ‘Tis the hazard of everyone being on servers at the same company – one goes down, a whole bunch do (we were available just fine, since our hosting service remained unaffected). Remember kids, resist peer pressure – distribute the blogosphere.

UPDATE: Michele says the attack was specifically against a pro-Israeli site. Gee.
