Lindsey Graham (R – Juarez) is pissed about the Palin pick.

But feminist/author Camille Paglia is very pleased.

  • Watching Gustav

StormTrack has a radar composite of the Gulf of Mexico. The cluster of black dots near the Louisiana coast are off-shore oil and gas rigs. They’ve been upgraded to much higher standards since Katrina, but this is going to be the first significant test.

  • Compatible?

Here’s a YouTube version of the Daily Show clip. Hurry up and watch it because Comedy Central is actively having it taken down there in favor of their own less-compatible stream.

  • Whither the bounce?

Zogby has Obama behind by 2 points, while the more reliable Rasmussen has him up by 3 to 4. John Kerry and Al Gore both had double-digit leads after their DNCCs.

UPDATE: Today’s Rasmussen has it back to a tie.

  • Hosing down the slime

Ed Morissey covers all the slams used against Palin. But Alan Colmes has gone for the gold with a claim that she was too busy being governor to get proper pre-natal care on her 5th child and that’s why it has Down Syndrome. Except that science and medical facts don’t back that up – it’s purely a genetic defect, and relatively common for mothers over 40.

UPDATE: Colmes has now yanked that post.

  • Lileks at the DNCC

The Strib sent him out there with a video camera, where he ran into Dave Barry, posed on Obama’s stage, and talked to someone protesting concealed-carry for nuns on the basis of The Da Vinci Code. Or something. Also Daryl Hannah, Captain Morgan, anti-bird-porn protesters, and more.

  • “Trademark Obama misogyny”

A feminist who isn’t voting for either of the Big Two thinks Palin is a genius pick for pretty much the same reason Jeff Goldstein did: in seconds Obama supporters online and on TV started spouting vile anti-female insults and they’re showing no signs of stopping.

  • Pulling out the foundation

Obama’s trying to censor anyone who gets too close to the facts about his past, but he’d be better off just coming clean. Unless it really *is* that bad…

The whole Obama narrative is built around the narrative that Obama and [campaign strategist] David Axelrod built, and, like all stories, it’s not entirely true.

  • The DU/Kos types have settled on a new strategery for defeating Palin: dig up all her old beauty pageant swimsuit and bikini pictures, because Everyone Knows™ that Christian conservatives want all women in burkas. (Uhh, wrong religion…) Ace has set a trap for the many people who are Doing It Wrong (regular Google instead of Image Search).

In a year when I think you could argue that both campaigns would be more appealing flipped, Misha’s got the right bumper sticker.

Ok, I got a few words wrong, but the meaning was intact.

McCain is never not a douche, about anything. I’ve despised every major-party Presidential nominee since about 1800, but this year’s special. They’re just amazing assholes.

At least it’s not coming near here, but unfortunately it’s headed straight for a lot of oil production (and Nawlins again).

  • Sayeth the lefties:

I would add that Obama does not need to be arguing how important experience is. Let me also add that when Tim Kaine, who has exactly the same experience as Palin, was treated by the Media and the Dems as a serious and acceptable potential pick, it opens up charges of a double standard.

    A round up here.

  • Several lefty and feminist blogs have already taken offense at a CNN analyst’s statement that Palin should take care of her kids instead of worrying about high office. Nice to see they’re consistent even when they don’t agree with the victim.
