This went over about as well as John McCain’s infamous statement that “the fundamentals of the economy are sound” in the middle of the financial crisis. Chris Christie, on stage at CPAC Chicago, got some really good mileage out of it.

Nice to hear.

Better, he claims to be unaware that the Department of Justice (where he, you know, works) does.

Peggy Noonan:

No one even looks to him for leadership now. He doesn’t go to Wisconsin, where the fight is. He goes to Sarah Jessica Parker’s place, where the money is.

Of course, lots of us knew this a long time ago.
