I’m guessing that the partners are both dissatisfied, with one still assuming most of the household chores, in addition to holding down a job. The stress levels would be high. and there would be a lot of aggravation. My husband and I both worked after the kids were out of the house, and I don’t remember a lot of stress or fights. So maybe children, home, and jobs contribute to those high levels.
