Tim Blair has even more on Dateline NBC’s attempt to manufacture news.

Comment #19 by Jim Treacher (natch) comes highly recommended.

  • Oh really?

Joe Wilson said conservatives and Republicans are “homos”. Ace has a top 10 list for the occasion. Drink alert, and keep your kids away from it too.

  • The other one

We bag on irony vs. the left here all the time, but consistency is an issue too. Note the 2 bumperstickers on the same car thoughtfully photographed by Lileks: “Don’t support the fascist regime” and “Raise taxes!”. Which would, ya know, give more money to the fascist regime.

Casey Sheehan’s grave remains unmarked. Clearly his mother has a great deal of respect for him.

The bit about snakes Ace added is in reference to this August’s Best A$$ Kicking In The Air Movie Ever™ “Snakes on a Plane”. It’s become an Internet phenomonon based on 3 things: the title (c’mon!), the star (Samuel L. Jackson), and his catchphrase (“I’ve had it with these motherf***ing snakes on this motherf***ing plane!”). See the teaser trailer here (towards the bottom of the page).

Yes, this could be better than “Passenger 57”. Just not intentionally.

  • The standard is set

Fans in laid-back San Diego kicked off the MLB season by throwing a large plastic syringe (minus needle) at Barry Bonds. This sets a high standard for fans in rowdier towns like Philadelphia, where they booed Santa Claus off the field at an Eagles game.

BONUS: CNN/SI has compiled a list of amusing and/or weird things that have been tossed onto sports fields.

  • Backfiring

NBC’s attempted Muslim “sting” at a NASCAR race last weekend got no results. So they’re trying again, but this time people know it in advance and both fans and NASCAR PR are slamming NBC (including, amusingly, in a wire store that MSNBC.com is showing).

James Taranto has lots of great stuff today.

Also, I heard on Boortz today the McKinney is in new trouble for using taxpayer money to fly Issac Hayes (yes, *that* one) to a campaign rally. Some Congressional Donks are backing away from her, publically calling her “an embarassment”.
