Inoperable Terran

Irony is the enemy of the post-modern left(tm)

Back then

Mark Steyn reprints his original 9/11 column. It’s still as good now as it was then.

  • Pajamas?

CBS’s new defense is that bloggers post in their pajamas. I am not making this up, fortunately for the comedy value.

Plus, here’s Mark Steyn’s take. 24x drink alert.

UPDATE: The Boston Globe is trying to make one of the experts appear to be saying things he didn’t. And he’s angry. Very angry.

The DFL (the Minnesota Democratic Party) was distributing “Bush=Hitler” bumper stickers. They claim it was an accident.

  • Is your Benzedrine, uh huh

Rather attempted to defend himself on tonight’s news. His argument was apparently that Bush sucks so it doesn’t matter if the documents are true. Meanwhile CNN (!), ABC, and NBC have all run stories in which experts say the documents are laughable forgeries. And much more, all through that same link…

Oh, and Hillary conspiracy theorists will love that the handwriting expert CBS used was the same guy who said the Vince Foster suicide note was real.

UPDATE: I hadn’t realized that Dan Rather’s surrealist mugging had been solved. Neat.

  • The bombshell

It seems the forged documents came from the DNC‘s “opposition research department” and were handed by the DNC directly to CBS News. That’s devestating on multiple levels (for one, it seems like a pretty clear violation of McCain-Feingold, not that anyone is surprised).

Dan Rather is having a breakdown.

RatherBiased is of course enjoying this immensely.

UPDATE: RatherBiased has reaction from Bernie Goldberg.

Allah has the roundups so I don’t have to. Several major papers including the Washington Post have now run stories suggesting the documents were forged, and apparently CBS is preparing to have Rather personally apologize on the air. Nice, but not nice enough I think…

  • Unsurprising

The forged documents may have been supplied to CBS by the Kerry campaign. Given the timing (this is happening shortly after the Clintonistas took over the campaign) it’s not hard to guess who’s responsible. Hillary still needs Bush to win this year, after all.

  • Hah!

Glenn has a ton on the forgery story, and note especially that tonight’s Nightline (on ABC) is apparently going to roast CBS on it. Nice!

  • Oh, my

The documents CBS used to claim Bush was AWOL exactly match the default settings and typeface of recent versions of Microsoft Word. This could be huge… (Also, don’t miss Puce’s immortal contribution, in Tim’s comments).

UPDATE: And don’t miss Allah’s very complete rundown here.

The media’s desparately trying to prop up the ketchup princess, to the extent of CBS using forged documents to try and prove Bush was AWOL.
