Here’s a great history lesson on the origins of modern Iraq and the Ba’ath party. Not surprisingly, France is implicated.

Like many, Kathy Kinsley finds Iraq’s Minister of Information strangely compelling. I’d just like to add that in case Frank’s ever bored, a “In My World” version of a Al-Sahaf press conference could be great.

The Pallies have announced that unless Sharon accepts Oslo, they will continue terrorism. As opposed to what they’re already doing. Meryl Yourish gives ‘em the once-over.

Anna thinks today’s AoD could kick the WW2 model’s ass. I agree, and not just because I have an immediate family member in the current model. People today are bigger, stronger, and have much cooler toys. Also, we invented the NFL. Everyone else watches “soccer”, which involves small androgynous men running around in short shorts.

Lots of people, including some of the writers of the Simpsons, are not amused that “cheese-eating surrender monkey” is being used “for evil” by political commentators. Includes a hilarious series of quotes from a history professor (of course) claiming that there’s nothing wrong with France’s surrender in WW2, and besides we didn’t liberate them, “mostly”. Uhhhhh, what?

Acidman Fisks the Iraqi government. I realize this is “difficulty: none”, but I got a good laugh out of it anyway.

Den Beste notes that the Hungarian police are censoring one of the best anti-EU posters ever. It’s simply brilliant.

Maybe they can get married and save us some typing. But anyway, Tim Blair takes out the trash here. Except that Blogger/Blogspot is farked up again so you’ll need to go here and look for the article under Tuesday April 08, 2003 that starts off about “CHEMICAL ALI”.

Adam Sandler has a nice message for the troops up on his site. Nice to see another island of sanity in the sea of crazy celebs.
