  • The standard is set

Fans in laid-back San Diego kicked off the MLB season by throwing a large plastic syringe (minus needle) at Barry Bonds. This sets a high standard for fans in rowdier towns like Philadelphia, where they booed Santa Claus off the field at an Eagles game.

BONUS: CNN/SI has compiled a list of amusing and/or weird things that have been tossed onto sports fields.

  • Backfiring

NBC’s attempted Muslim “sting” at a NASCAR race last weekend got no results. So they’re trying again, but this time people know it in advance and both fans and NASCAR PR are slamming NBC (including, amusingly, in a wire store that MSNBC.com is showing).

James Taranto has lots of great stuff today.

Also, I heard on Boortz today the McKinney is in new trouble for using taxpayer money to fly Issac Hayes (yes, *that* one) to a campaign rally. Some Congressional Donks are backing away from her, publically calling her “an embarassment”.

Since the ‘Hawk is too busy rolling around in his PJM money to actually post anymore, Scott Ott’s taken up the news niblets patrol. Some great snark, especially about Basic Instinct.
