Inoperable Terran

Irony is the enemy of the post-modern left(tm)

Manners are for other people

Lileks got predictable hate email after yesterday’s tale of telling some teenagers at a Target to not use The Samuel Jackson Word (starts with “mother”) in front of Gnat. Plus: a Russian art exhibit I’d like to see.

The Egyptian street is rising up and speaking, but, well, those who predicted it would may be surprised by what it’s saying.

Mark Steyn on Hugh Hewitt: this week’s transcript is here.

Bonus: Christopher Hitchens was on to Britishly dismiss a new hit piece from Rolling Stone (which used to be musically readable-but-lefty and has now devolved into Bush Derangement Syndrome combined with record company ass-kissing, thus making it useless for all audiences).

I’ve seen a chain email going around that suggests that people can force the price of gas to come down by only buying $10 at a time and stopping for gas more often to compensate. For the benefit of those in Rio Linda it makes no difference to the station if you buy $20 every week or $10 twice a week – at the end of the week, you’ve used the same amount. Only people who believe higher taxes improve the economy (paging Ted Kennedy) would believe this stuff.

If you really want to help gas prices, hire the A-Team to assassinate (well, ok, capture works too) the mullahs in Iran.

  • The UK’s Guardian screwed up and ran an article refering to Eve Ensler’s book and play as “The Mark Steyn Monologues”. If you don’t quite get the bait-and-switch there, they were essentially calling Mark a piece of female anatomy.
