Inoperable Terran

Irony is the enemy of the post-modern left(tm)

Ahh, appeasement

B.C. discovers that lots of folks of Spanish descent are into appeasement. Fascinating.

Yeah, this is a second post. I can’t help it. Even the media’s starting to admit that Kerry’s hoist by his own petard.

Plus, Mark Steyn on Kerry’s ‘unique truth’.

  • Ok, just one link

The DUers and Kos think Karl Rove caused the hurricane for some sort of partisan advantage. That’s just about the living end.

Power finally came back on at 4:45 or so. Living in Florida with no air conditioning for extended periods sucks more than I care to talk about. Regular posting will resume tomorrow.

  • Damn.

Just lost power. I’ll post this then shut down the UPSes. See ya on the flip side.

Winds are getting even more interesting. The TV guys have a new cliche: going to the feed from traffic cameras. They’re mounted on light poles, so high winds make them shake drunkenly. So you have pretty much the world’s most useless footage, but they sure do like it.

It’s at Kissimmee/St. Cloud (aka Disney/Sea World/Universal) now. I’m expecting to lose power pretty much any time now, but we’ll see.

The wind’s kicking up a lot now. Probably less than an hour ’til the eye comes by.

  • Update

Rain’s still fairly minor, but Charley is getting up near the southern border of Orange County (which contains Orlando and me, among other things). The next 2-3 hours will be the real fun.

The rain’s down to a light drizzle again.

UPDATE: Yeah, I know, this is scintillating stuff.

“Hurricane blog” for a bit, that is. Very heavy rain here at the moment – teevee indicates it’s just a small band and should be gone again soon.

  • Oh, good

The new revised track puts the thing right on my head around 10 PM. That’s so lovely I have no words for it.

Incidentally, if there was a hurricane but there was no footage of hapless TV reporters getting blown around like leaves, would it be real?

Kerry says he would not retaliate if the US were nuked. That’s pleasant.

…now has “jogged” east and will hit Orlando pretty much head-on. Posting may be intermittant as a result. I’m buckled down and stocked up, and I hope other Central Florida folks like B.C. and Frank J. are too.
