  • Unsung

I think one of the reasons Bush won so well this time is that conservatives and libertarians stopped cowering and started reappropriating the Left’s tactics and iconography against them (Protest Warrior in particular did a beautiful job remixing ANSWER, and the Swift Vets turned the tables on MoveOn.org and other 527s). Michelle Malkin has another excellent example.

It’s party time for Bush, Chomps, Rummy, Condi, and Buck the Marine. Michael Moore and the terrorists don’t fend so well.

Michael Moore is depressed. I’m sure a few dozen donuts will fix that right up.

Meanwhile, al-Guardian is trying to avoid credit for turning Ohio to Bush, even though the evidence looks pretty clear.

Not a completely reliable source, but apparently Arafat is dead but his wife won’t let them yank the life support because she doesn’t know where his money is. Beautiful. The second time as farce indeed.

UPDATE: The Jerusalem Post agrees. Clearly I need shadier rumors, so I’ll note one posted on LGF: Arafat’s symptoms are an awful lot like AIDS…

  • Lies, damn lies, and statistics

From the Political Junkie Handbook we present these interesting election stats. For each demographic group, the first number (before the /) indicates the percentage that voted for Bush in 2000. The second is the number in 2004. (NOTE: Some group names have been changed by me according to IoT’s ‘house lack of style’ – I’m responsible, not PJH).

    Blacks: 8%/11%
    Whites: 54%/58%
    Hispanics: 41%/44%
    Married: 53%/56%
    Not Married: 38%/40%
    Union Members: 37%/40%
    Gays: 25%/23%
    Gun Owners: 61%/67%
    Protestants: 63%/59%
    Jews: 19%/25%
    Catholics: 45%/52%
    Republicans: 91%/93%
    Donks: 10%/11%
    Men: 51%/55%
    Women: 43%/48%
    18-29 year olds: 46%/45%
    30-44 year olds: 49%/53%
    45-59 year olds: 49%/51%
    60+ year olds: 47%/54%

BTW, it’s not entirely obvious, but the first piece linked is actually 3 pages. Also, the second one merits a 24x drink alert due to comments about Michael Moore and underpants.
