The purportedly gay and conservative Andrew Sullivan decided to become a full-on liberal Democrat, and now he’s begging for bucks, citing high bandwidth costs. The problem is his figures don’t add up, and he’s lost 300,000 hits a month since becoming a liberal. Everyone from Michelle Malkin to Laurence Simon to the Hawk does the math.

Incidentally, if bandwidth costs are a concern for your blog, we suggest you talk to our friends (and hosts) at Total Choice Hosting. They’re great guys offering outstanding deals.

Right on schedule. We’ve got a minor issue though – we’ve enabled sending trackbacks in the prefs, but it doesn’t seem to register on other folks’ trackbacks when we link ‘em. Anyone expert with WordPress who has an idea, please talk to me :-)

Woke up to find that the left hand links weren’t working in firefox and opera. After some messing with the .css everything seems to be stable once more. Long story short, it had to do with positioning declarations. The fix negated something I was hoping to keep as far as z-index, but I will refix that later in a way that doesn’t break links. Sorry for the hiccup :)

  • Out of Order, part 2

Hi! If you can read this, we’re correctly running on WordPress. Some interesting new features have already appeared (for instance, the blog now can be translated to a stripped-down version for mobile phones and other WAP devices) and more will be showing up soon. Also, we finally have posting categories (I know that was possible in MT too). If you have a browser that worked previously with IoT and doesn’t now, let us know (I know IE 5.x didn’t work previously and it probably still doesn’t – please get a real browser if you still run it).

  • Out of Order

I’m going to be on vacation for a week starting tomorrow. And unlike last summer where I had cool guest posters, Z. and I are going to be remodeling the blog (including a switch to WordPress, which should result in faster and more reliable posting and commenting, plus less load on our server).

We’ll try to keep the thing running during the transition, so please visit all of the fine sites linked in the left-hand column, and seeya soon…
