Irony is the enemy of the post-modern left(tm)

The latest bizzare developments

Now the page involved has hired a lawyer and says the IMs were initiated by him, apparently to gay-bait Rep. Foley and show to other pages (one of whom apparently leaked it to the DNC). This doesn’t make Foley less skeezy since he still went along with it, but it does rather abruptly let Hastert off the hook.

  • Bad cop, worse cop

An old man and his wife got their house ransacked when a cop wrote down an address wrong for someone who’d been making obscene phone calls.

  • An all-time new low in bad taste

Westboro Baptist is going to picket the funerals of the dead Amish girls.

UPDATE: They’ve apparently accepted a deal offered by conservative radio host Mike Gallagher where they can spew their hatred on syndicated radio for one hour (minus commercials) and in exchange they won’t bother the Amish. I don’t know that I trust any of those inbreds, but we’ll see.

CNN’s getting bitchslapped by the Senate for, among other things, citing the movie The Day After Tomorrow as something that was definitely going to happen. (Even the global warming freaks on the Weather Channel found that film largely laughable). (Via Lair).

An Iowa town installed red light cameras after being promised they’d bring in $80,000 a month, and now they’re angry because it’s less than 1/10th that amount. Does anyone still believe those things exist for safety rather than revenue?

The Daily Kos has an “encyclopedia” section, and it turns out the entry on Rep. Gerry Studds was altered recently to delete a section on how those opposed to him were gay-haters. (This is presumably to give cover to Kos Kids bashing Rep. Foley).
