French government TV is suing critics of their Pallywood footage for defamation. Unlike in civilized countries, in France you can be guilty even if you’re telling the truth.

I’m a bit late posting this, but the NFL season’s officially started and Gregg Easterbrook is back at ESPN.

Also, rodomontade is in fact a word. Just don’t do it in front of the football gods.

    Oh, and the best line:

Hard as it might seem for [Brett Favre] to believe, the Packers’ season is not about him personally.

You knew this was coming ever since it was revealed that Oliver Stone’s World Trade Center was essentially non-partisan: he’s making a second 9/11 movie, all revved up with the conspiracy theories and everything else you’d expect. Don’t miss Ace’s suggested title.

Allah has edited together an 8-minute piece from the end of the docu-drama that has Donks foaming. It’s surprisingly well done and comes close to the “you are there” feeling from the French documentary.

  • As it happened

CNN posted all their original 9/11 coverage, and Allah’s editing it down into usable chunks. As a bonus, Charles is throwing in the infamous video of the parties in the “Palestinian” “Authority”.

ETA: Just so it’s more obvious, the 3 parts (via YouTube) are over at Allah’s.

  • Side-by-side

Allah’s got the aired and uncensored versions of the intro to “The Path to 9/11” side-by-side. The edited version still makes Sandy Berger look like a dickless coward, so I imagine hilarity is now ensuing at DU/Kos/etc.

I alternated between Sunday Night Football and CBS’s commercial-free unedited presentation of the French documentary “9|11“, which remains probably the best single record of that day. The one thing worse than the image of the jumpers I linked to earlier is the sound of them hitting the pavement, which occurs dozens of times in the film. (For the unfamiliar, the filmmakers were doing a documentary on a FDNY “probie” (new hire in his probationary period) and managed to get not only the only known footage of the *first* plane hitting the WTC but extensive footage from inside the Towers prior to their collapse). Miraculously nobody from the firehouse they were covering died that day, although there were several close calls. The filmmakers, to their credit, have remained close with the firemen and one of them married his girlfriend at the firehouse about a year after 9/11.
