  • Light Rail of Horrors

    P. J. O’Rourke in today’s OpinionJournal points out that for the cost of Minneapolis’ light rail system the government could simply give each of the projected riders a new BMW X5 SUV. (But unlike the puppy blender I wouldn’t touch a current-model BMW with a 10-foot pole. Not only is Chris Bangle’s infamous styling hideous, but the reliability of German cars has been on a steep decline for the past 5 years or so).

You know it’s a slow news day when Idol Judges Are Mean is a headline. Admittedly, Paula Abdul telling the truth was mildly shocking, but still.

New in Iran: huge anti-mullah demonstrations with a twist – in addition to burning the mullahs in effigy, the people are also burning French flags because Chirac is very pally with the Islamic regime.

The Iraqi government has an effective new weapon against the terrorists: reality TV. I say we send them Paris Hilton and her sidekick, or would that violate the Geneva conventions?

Our buddy fidel castro™ is rounding up well-dressed men in case they’re gay. Will this cause mental turbulance with his Hollyweird supporters? Probably not.

Not much notice, I know, but today is the third annual Eat an Animal for PETA Day. As I recall it was originally inspired by a PETA ad making light of the Holocaust, but it’s taken on a life of it’s own.
