  • Because Clapper, who would know, repeated under oath that there has been zero evidence found in the Trump/Russia fishing expedition. So there was no reason, optical or other, not to cut him loose. The Russia expedition was on the level of the giant anti-Scott Walker dragnet run by Dems in Wisconsin that was ultimately found illegal by the state Supreme Court. They had no proof, they just wanted the media to report that there were suspicions so that people thought something was up.
